Fitch out of UFC on Fuel TV 4 due to knee injury
In what is beginning to happen at an alarming rate for the UFC, the promotion has lost yet another fighter for an upcoming card due to injury. This time the victim is Jon Fitch who suffered a knee injury during training, forcing him to withdraw from his upcoming bout with Aaron Simpson at UFC on FUEL TV 4 on July 11th.
This was going to be the first time Fitch appeared in the octagon since his knockout loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC 140 last December. That loss broke Fitch’s six fight unbeaten streak and was only his second loss since joining the promotion in 2005, killing the momentum he had built up in an effort to receive another shot at the title.
While the severity of the injury has not yet been released, it is serious enough to force his withdrawal from the bout with Simpson that was to be held in San Jose, Ca. Meanwhile, the UFC must scramble to find a new opponent for Simpson as yet another injury is forcing them to alter an upcoming card.
